Many South Africans don’t realise how important a Last Will and Testament really is. It’s one of the most crucial documents you can have, yet many people put it off. Some believe they’re too young to need one. Others think they don’t have enough assets to justify it. And some feel like it’s already too late to make one.

No matter your age or financial status, a Will helps protect your family and ensures your wishes are respected. A Last Will and Testament is a legal document that outlines what should happen to your money, property and belongings when you pass away. If you have children, it also lets you name a guardian to care for them.

If you're over 18 and have savings, investments, property or dependants, it's wise to have a Will. If you don’t, South African law will decide how your estate is managed – and that might not reflect your wishes.

At Mirathi, we understand that estate planning isn't always top of mind. Life gets busy. But while it may be uncomfortable to think about death, creating a Will is one of the most loving and responsible things you can do for your family. Dying without one can leave them with unnecessary stress and confusion.
